WHO WE ARE

Fairfax Food Rescue launched in November of 2021 with two employees working out of an office space in the Fair Oaks area of Fairfax. The initial emphasis was on building relationships with non-profit organizations in the county. Once thirty non-profit partners were onboard, a third employee was hired to focus on donor recruitment. Fairfax Food Rescue is now distributing food from a large grocery store chain, a commercial kitchen, a bakery, and other small markets. Non-profit partners include school pantries, churches, mobile home communities, and Boys and Girls Clubs. The Fairfax Food Rescue team is hard at work growing the program and building relationships in the community.

OUR AIM

Fairfax Food Rescue aims to address the disconnect between food insecurity and food waste by rescuing food before it is wasted and redistributing it to it to organizations that serve communities in need. Our goal is to keep food out of the trash and get it into the hands of those who need it.

OUR VOLUNTEERS

 

There are multiple opportunities to volunteer with our Food Rescue program – everything from event planning to marketing to social media, to dispatch, to data entry, and more!  We’d love to have you join our team through our volunteer opportunities!

FOOD DONOR PARTNER

Are you an Organization or Business with excess food to donate? Donors range from large food distributors to small mom-and-pop stores, restaurant chains, urban farms and even other nonprofits.

FOOD RESCUE HEROES

Are you Person looking to rescue food using our App on your phone? Heroes are any member of our community who can download the app, create a profile, and help move food from Donors to Distributors.

 

DISTRIBUTION FOOD PARTNER

Are you a Non-Profit Organization who could feed the hungry? Distributors are nonprofits ranging from food warehouses to small food pantries, PTOs, foundations, and faith-based organizations.
